10 Key Pieces for Perfect Yoga Clothing Outfits

by Anna Mae

Flexibility and comfort are the most important considerations when choosing the perfect yoga clothing outfit. Provided you have all the key essentials, styling and colour are completely down to you. Feel free to go for something that complements your personality.

Some people enjoy loud, bright colours and patterns, whereas others prefer plain block hues.

1. Yoga Clothing: Tops

When selecting a yoga top, consider any inverted poses. You want your vest or T-shirt to stay put and not fall around your head, exposing your underwear! Choose a snug-fitting vest or tee that makes you feel comfortable. It can get quite warm practising yoga, so layers are often an excellent way to go with a combination of short and long-sleeved tops.

2. Yoga Clothing: Bras/Crop Tops

Whether you need support under your yoga vest or something cooler for hot yoga sessions, having a good-fitting yoga bra or crop top in your yoga kit is essential.

3. Yoga Clothing: Pants/Leggings

Any style of yoga bottoms is acceptable, and you may wish to have a selection depending on the season. Most people opt for close-fitting, long yoga leggings, cropped yoga pants, or shorts.

4. Yoga Clothing: Loungewear

Hoodies and tracksuit bottoms are an excellent addition to any yoga clothing kit for relaxation at the end of the session, and of course, from getting to and from the yoga studio. The last thing you want to do after you have exercised is to get a chill.

5. Yoga Clothing: Yoga Socks

Most people will do yoga barefoot, but some prefer socks which should have grip bottoms, and fluffy socks are invaluable at the end of the session for Savasana.

6. Yoga Accessories: Legwarmers

To prevent strains, it’s important to warm up and cool down your muscles well. Some people opt for yoga leg warmers, which they remove once the warmup is complete and put back on, ready for the cooldown.

7. Yoga Accessories: Headbands

Nothing is worse than stray hairs on your face when trying to balance or perform an inversion. Headbands help keep everything tidy and out of the way.

8. Yoga Accessories: Gloves

Yoga gloves might be the perfect solution if your hands slip on the mat. Fingerless gloves with a non-slip palm help to create a good balance for inversions and other poses.

9. Yoga Accessories: Toe Separators

Toe separators help to combat modern shoes. High heels, and poorly fitting shoes, contribute to plantar fasciitis, bunions, and more. Many people were toe separators during Savasana to allow for foot realignment.

10. Yoga Clothing: Footwear

Most people will practice yoga barefoot, but if you’re participating in an outdoor lesson, you may want to wear shoes or trainers. You also need something easy to get on and off when you arrive at the studio. Some people like trainers, whereas others opt for flip-flops.
